Thanks! I’ve been looking for this since 1998.
In about 1996,I had a Artec optical mouse(with a metal grid pad), it could lock the x axis or y axis by two side button, I love this function. The mouse was out of work in 1998.

I find it useful in many cases: while navigating through menus, icons, and also in some graphics operations.
