glossary

A place where folks go to look up the definitions of words they thought they already knew but realized they didn't.

neologism

A new word, meaning, usage or phrase.  The introduction of new words or new senses of existing words. More at Wikipedia.

palindrome

A palindrome is a word or sentence, which, when spelled backwords is the same.  For example, the word level is the same both forward and reverse.   More at Wikipedia.

parameter

A variable term used to identify a characteristic.  In programming, it refers to a variable that determines the way a function reacts.

permutation

A major or fundamental change based primarily on the rearrangement of existing elements.  A variety resulting from such a change. More at Wikipedia.

phoneagram

a mnemonic phrase represented as alphanumberic equivalents of a phone number.  Phoneagram isn't a real word, however - I made it up: the real word is phoneword (if you trust Wikipedia), but phoneagram sounds so much better.

semordnilap

This is a word that forms a different word when spelled backward.  It is similar to a palindrome: a palindrome is the same word, a semordnilap is a different word. Semordnilap is just palindromes spelled backward.  An example is swap, which forms paws in reverse.

typoglycemia
